“Protecting local control is my passion—as local leadership is the best way to ensure the citizen’s voice is heard and respected. We can push back against preemption—which is the constant attempts by the state to undermine local authority and citizen autonomy—by proactively addressing our community’s concerns."

Susan’s roots in Martin County go back four generations
A resident for 50-plus years, she attended middle school in Indiantown and gradated Martin County High (just don’t ask which year!)
Six-year council woman and first-ever mayor of Indiantown—Florida’s newest municipality
Professional local experience in advertising, agriculture, construction, hospitality/tourism, public health, communications and education at Martin County School District
“For the last 20 years I’ve had the privilege of working for the Martin County School District—and I’m the fourth generation of my family to do so. I brought up my two sons here and will soon welcome my first grandchild—who will be a Martin County native. I want my family—and yours—to have the opportunity to inherit the same essence of this special place that we all love so much.”

My great-grandfather arrived in Martin County in 1937—which is the beginning of my great blessing in calling this community home. This is a special gift and it’s why I’m committed to protecting the interests of locals and all that makes Martin County special. I never planned on getting into politics. When my hometown of Indiantown debated incorporation in 2016 and 2017, I opposed it and didn’t want to add another layer of government. But after my neighbors voted overwhelmingly in support of incorporation in 2018, I stayed involved, ran for office, got elected mayor and worked my hardest to represent my community’s voice and ensure we got the services, reinvestment and respect Indiantown residents deserve. It’s positioned us to upgrade our water quality, bring jobs to the area and attract housing that’s more affordable for our residents. Best of all, we’re still protecting our community’s priorities and unique lifestyle.
As your District 3 commissioner, here’s where I stand on the hot-button items:
We’ve had a lot of residential growth lately. You’ve gotta have some growth, but not too much or too fast. The type I’d like to see is on the nonresidential side—in job creation. In our aviation industry, marine industry, light manufacturing base and among our entrepreneurs. Growth the ways that play to our existing strengths and generate job opportunities for our young people so they can afford to live here, raise their own families, and fulfill their roles as stewards of Martin County’s quality of life.
Our sheriff deputies and firefighters must have the training and equipment necessary to continue keeping our community safe. We’re all comforted by the notion that if something serious happens to our own health or our loved ones, Martin County firefighters and paramedics will respond in minutes to provide. We rest easy know that criminals across South Florida fear taking the “wrong exit” into Martin County. This means everything to our families’ safety. Let’s take care of the brave sheriff deputies and firefighters who take care of us.
We’re all feeling the pinch during this time of record inflation, runaway insurance rates and high gas prices. I’m steadfastly committed to finding ways to keep your taxes low—just as I’ve done in Indiantown.
I was brought up to believe a simple principle: When you think something needs to get done, you don’t sit on the sidelines complaining or waiting for someone else to step in. You roll up you selves and get in there and do it. But you don’t do it alone. You listen to the community. You take the time to get informed and understand the law, the rules and all the implications. But when it comes time to cast your vote, you do so clearly, definitively, and decisively standing strong on your convictions, owning your actions and able to defend your decisions.
I hope and pray you’ll entrust me with this incredible opportunity. I ask that you hold me accountable, too. God bless you. God bless America and may God bless Martin County.
